British activewear brand Sweaty Betty has returned to Italian synthetic yarns specialist Fulgar to create a selection of 10 statement performance wear pieces for its ‘Athlete’ collection.

The ‘designed by women for women’ fashion-sportswear retailer said the collaboration “reaffirms its commitment to quality and sustainability” by selecting Fulgar’s Q-Cycle yarn, claimed to be a “next-generation polyamide 6.6 yarn that represents a breakthrough in the textile industry”.
Made entirely from pyrolysis oil, an alternative raw material derived from the recycling of end-of-life or disused tyres (one of the most environmentally challenging types of waste, according to Fulgar), its features include lightness, strength, and elasticity, “all comparable to virgin polyamide”, the maker noted.
The new Athlete collection introduces a range of performance pieces including seamless tanks, cropped tops, short-sleeve tees and long-sleeve versions.
Each includes technical details such as ribbed or mesh inserts, flattering slim or loose fits, and quick-drying properties “making the collection versatile and high-performing for training across disciplines”, noted Sweaty Betty.
Fulgar marketing manager Daniela Antunes added: “We hope this will be the first step towards an even stronger collaboration. Our portfolio includes not only sustainable yarns, but also high-performance ones.”
