New Balance and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka launch limited ddition Furon Colourway

US sportswear brand New Balance has announced the global release of the Bukayo Saka ‘7egacy’ Edition football boot, a custom colourway of the Furon v8 designed with the England and Arsenal winger.

The special edition boot combines New Balance’s “performance engineering” with a design that reflects Saka’s “creative vision illustrating his life both on and off the pitch”.

The star has worked closely with New Balance designers to create a style that showcases hand-illustrated graphics and symbols including a lion “to represent leadership, a bible and dove to reflect his faith”.

The boot “creates high impact on the pitch” via the anodised metallic film and a premium hologram plate treatment that amplifies the burgundy, silver, and white coloursways. In addition to the iconography is the player’s number 7, prominently featured on the heel foxing weld. ‘Saka’ is also written on the lace aglets and his personal logo is imprinted on the footbed.

“I wanted to create a boot that shares my story with the fans who inspire me every day. From faith to football, everything I care about is woven into this design,” said NB roster athlete Saka.

“New Balance gave me the freedom to be fully creative from the colours and textures and even the marketing campaign that surrounds this boot. I was involved in every step of the process and… now it’s up to others to create their own stories with them.”

To further illustrate the impact Saka has on youth football, the launch is centered around a community campaign ‘Through Their Eyes’, which highlights young athletes’ unique vantage point in London’s grassroots football scene.

Shot by eight young storytellers through the lens of a disposable camera, the campaign features a “raw, personal football experience” centered around the next generation of players.

These athletes will also get to partake in a community event which will celebrate their work and allow them to partake in workshops and panels that explore personal expression through football.
