SML x FORA: Exclusive collection of six ceramic eyewear

The Portuguese brand FORA Sunglasses, founded in Lisbon in 2014 “out of a passion for vintage glasses and sunglasses design”, unveils its new collab, this time with Sofia de Moser Leitão, a ceramicist and content creator who is part of the Mango Girls (a community of talents who share the same values as the Spanish brand). This collaboration highlights a dialog between materials, functions, and creative worlds reflected in the exclusive collection of six ceramic glasses.

“We challenged ceramicist Sofia de Moser Leitão to create an exclusive collection of ceramic pieces that represented a fusion between the two identities, blending eyewear design with organic shapes and playful colors,” said FORA, in a press release.

“The Portuguese artist deconstructed FORA’s frames and reinterpreted them in a vibrant visual setting, with humor and shapes that invite touch,” it continued. “With a Portuguese soul, this collection was designed and handmade in Paris by Sofia de Moser Leitão,” added the Lisbon brand, revealing the location of the Portuguese creative, who has been based in Paris since 2019.

De Moser Leitão has been dedicated to ceramics for around seven years, when she was in Lisbon doing an after-school master’s degree in Cultural Management. She trained in an atelier in Graça and on the intensive ceramics course at Ar.Co – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual.

“At FORA, we believe in the power of creative collaborations and this time we’ve invited Portuguese ceramicist Sofia de Moser Leitão to reinterpret our frames through her unique artistic language,” it is reinforced on the FORA website.

“Taking inspiration from FORA’s frames, the Portuguese artist has deconstructed their elements and given them a new life as vibrant, tactile, and unexpected objects. Each piece is handmade in her Paris studio, conveying a Portuguese soul and a playful spirit that invites touch.”

“I had a lot of fun deconstructing FORA’s frames and reinterpreting them in my visual universe, colorful, with organic shapes and a touch of humor. It’s a dialog between the ‘rigor’ of eyewear design and my creative universe,” confessed the young ceramicist.

The result: an exclusive collection of six ceramic pieces that “embodies the synergy between our two identities: FORA’s timeless design and Sofia’s organic, fun, and humorous art,” according to the website.
