British sportswear brand Umbro is a seasoned collaborator while Australian fashion brand Mertra is new to the game. So to make its debut, the latter has joined forces with the expert to create a capsule collection.

It’s inspired by Umbro’s “scene setting archive”, uniting its century-long sporting history with three-year-old Mertra’s “functional, design-led aesthetic”.
We’re told the partnership “captures the spirit of innovation and authenticity which defines both brands”, drawing inspiration from Umbro’s 1990’s and early 2000’s training wear – “reinterpreted through Mertra’s modernist lens”.
At the heart of the range are two hero pieces: the Technical Jacket/co-ord Pants, and the Water Reactive Jacket.
Sold separately, the Technical Jacket and Pants feature a breathable polyamide shell and mesh lining, with a panelled construction designed to enhance movement and comfort. Ventilation zips nod to classic Umbro design, while reflective details add functionality.
The Water Reactive Jacket, made from waterproof nylon Taslan, features a 15,000mm hydrostatic test score, which when wet reveals a hidden Umbro x Mertra monogram.
Additional styles include a hoodie, joggers, two T-shirts, and a range of accessories including a reflective cap and beanie. Prices range £39-£180.
Helene Hope, head of Global Brand Marketing for Umbro, said: “Umbro is always excited to showcase young talent and keep evolving with these rising stars. It is something we have been doing for a long time.”
